Tara Walls

P-LPC (MS-P-742)

Tara is a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor who obtained her Master’s in Counseling from Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi. She was able to gain much knowledge, understanding and tools to integrate biblical knowledge and the world of counseling to help those whom are battling the waves of life. She is currently striving towards becoming fully licensed in the State of Mississippi, under the supervision of Dr. Jim Brown, LPC-S.

After receiving her Bachelor’s degree from Mississippi College and obtaining her Master’s from RTS, Tara is continuing to gain experience in the college setting by also serving as a counselor at Millsaps College.

Tara’s passion for counseling has been present since she was in junior high – noting how that was a time she noticed her peers had a difficult time adjusting to changes in their households. Tara’s desire then and now continues to align in wanting to help people that are having difficulties adapting to change, facing hardships or just wanting to understand themselves better.

Tara has been fortunate enough to have worked with a diverse population. She has met and walked alongside people going through divorce and those who have dealt with who are currently dealing with anxiety and depression. She has worked with those that are in the process of grief and those who are trying to find a way back to themselves. Tara’s approach to counseling provides a friendly and welcoming environment where clients feel safe enough to examine different things such as their patterns of behavior, thoughts or emotions. She incorporates evidence-based practices and approaches that hones in the client’s worth and dignity, while helping them discover ways of fostering interpersonal relationships and managing emotions.
